Coils and Sheets

Coils and Sheets

At Ruwais Steel, we have established ourselves as a reliable source of quality steel products in the UAE. We supply products that meet high industrial standards for construction and industrial applications.

We offer strong, durable, and corrosion-resistant steel sheets and coils in various lengths, widths, and specifications to suit different project requirements.

Coils and Sheets

Steel coils are finished sheets or strips of steel that have been rolled. They are produced with a width that is significantly greater than the thickness of the sheet.

When coils and sheets are provided with suitable protective coatings, they become more resistant to weather conditions, moisture, and corrosion.

Coils and sheets are manufactured using different processes depending on the required mechanical properties. Common manufacturing methods include:

  • Hot rolling
  • Cold rolling
  • Galvanizing

Manufacturing of Coils and Sheets

Hot Rolled coils appear as wound steel strips when finished. They are produced using continuous or semi-continuous hot-rolling mills. These mills may also form part of a compact strip production plant.

Galvanized Iron coils can be manufactured using two common methods:

  • Continuous hot-dip galvanizing: The steel passes through a bath of molten zinc, creating a protective zinc coating.
  • Electro-galvanizing: A layer of zinc is bonded to both sides of the steel using electrolytic deposition.

Types of Coils

HR Coils

HR Coils

HR coils are steel products that have their oxide film removed either chemically or mechanically. They are manufactured by subjecting the steel to extremely high temperatures before rolling.

Hot Rolled coils can be easily welded, formed, and drilled, making them suitable for a wide variety of heavy-duty industrial applications.

Common applications include:

  • Heavy machinery
  • Tool boxes
  • Shipping containers
  • Fuel tanks
  • General fabrication
  • Industrial structures

HR Coil Specifications

Grade S235JR, S275JR, S355JO, S355J2, Grade 50, Q235B, Q345B
Thickness 1.0 mm – 25 mm
Width 600 mm – 2000 mm
Internal Diameter 508 / 610 mm

GI Coils

GI Coils

Galvanized Iron coils, commonly known as GI coils, are manufactured from carbon steel sheets coated with zinc on both sides.

The zinc coating helps protect the underlying steel from corrosion, improving durability and making GI coils suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

GI coils are commonly used for:

  • Garage doors
  • Roofing
  • Safety fences
  • Electrical products
  • Exterior building products
  • General construction applications
